Dr. Julie Brush is a graduate of National University of Naturopathic Medicine, in Portland, Oregon. She was the recipient of the Helfgott Research Institute Student Research Scholarship in 2005 for her work studying the immune-stimulating properties of herbs. For the past 12 years, she has been practicing at 2BWell clinics in Lake Oswego and Portland, Oregon as a family physician. In January 2018, she and her family moved to the beautiful Big Island where she served as the Medical Director at the Hawaii Naturopathic Retreat until June 2018. She has completed additional training with Dr. Ben Lynch on the subject of MTHFR genetic mutations and impact on health, with Dr. Dan Carter to learn Bowen therapy, and with Dr. Dick Thom on UNDA drainage. She is an active member of the Oregon Association of Naturopathic Physicians and of the Hawaii Society of Naturopathic Physicians and is certified in IV Therapy. As a NUNM graduate, Julie has completed extensive medical training in both primary care and naturopathic medicine. She practices under a new paradigm of health care. In this paradigm, you, the patient, are listened to, you are given the tools to achieve optimum health and you are an active participant in your health care. This is an individualized approach that honors your unique history. The naturopathic approach seeks to identify and treat the cause of disease, which both treats acute issues and prevents future health problems.

Our proprietary Core Belief Restructuring approach restructures the hidden beliefs that otherwise hold clients back and combines experiential learning with cognitive learning. We offer one of the most customized treatment programs in the country with exceptional services and amenities. From the very first day clients entrust themselves to our care, and running concurrent with their addiction recovery program, clients will participate in relapse prevention and our individualized New Life Direction process. Together we help clients assemble the building blocks they need to live a renewed and passionate life and teach the skills to overcome old addiction triggers. By the time clients leave The Exclusive Addiction Treatment Center, their new life has already begun! The Exclusive Hawaii Reviews and Ratings Details
The following is based on a combination of Surveys of Alumni, Staff, Loved Ones, and Reviews and Ratings from around the web.
Reviews at a Glance
- Individualized Treatment
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
- Experiential Therapy
Experiential Engagement Therapy is designed to make use of the way the human nervous system is wired to learn. Experience-based therapy is retained more than traditional-style therapy, where you sit and receive information or advice passively. Experiential Engagement Therapy is learning about yourself, your emotions, your beliefs, and your addictions by engaging fully in your experience – not just thinking, but doing! Experiential Engagement Therapy (EET) requires your full engagement and participation in experiencing your emotions, past trauma, and unresolved pain. With Experiential Engagement Therapy, you will learn how to feel and learn from the discomfort and anxiety that arises in your physical body. You will learn to walk through the discomfort and physical pain. In this uncomfortable place, you will find the deepest understanding of yourself, your belief systems, your addictions, your depression, and your anxiety.
- Non 12 Step Therapy
In our Non 12-Step methodology, we believe that everyone is doing the best they can, based on the beliefs they hold. Because we deeply understand this, we are able to hold a non-judgmental attitude when working with our clients. We treat our clients with love, compassion, and respect. We treat everyone as if they were part of our “Ohana,” or family. We know that substance abuse is merely a symptom of a deep-rooted issue. We truly understand that drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and eating disorders are an attempt to relieve yourself from anxiety, unresolved past trauma, and depression, to name a few. For that reason, we don’t want to label you or have you identify as your addiction.
- Holistic Therapy
Holistic recovery centers focus on addressing the whole person – body, mind, and essence. Holistic drug rehabs integrate conventional and alternative therapies to search for the underlying causes of addiction and co-occurring disorders. Instead of focusing and treating the substance abuse problem alone, a holistic approach includes evaluation of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, spiritual, and lifestyle elements. Holistic recovery programs are equally as successful as more conventional addiction treatment programs. Holistic and integrative physicians use a variety of safe, effective options in the diagnosis and treatment of addictions. They strive to see the entire picture of you and evaluate every aspect that could be contributing to your substance abuse problem.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a highly specific, research-validated form of therapy that can help people overcome traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. With EMDR, a trained practitioner uses bilateral stimulation, eye movement and touch to stimulate parts of the brain as a patient recounts certain experiences and memories as a way to more thoroughly process uncomfortable, painful feelings.
- Equine Therapy
A form of animal therapy, equine therapy involves visiting, working with and sometimes riding horses as a way to create a metaphoric relationship that leads to life-altering insights.
I feel better physically and mentally. I also really appreciated the new life approach. I feel like I have a clear goal in mind for my future and a path that has been constructed that will lead me to get to my goals.Anonymous
I'm going home a new person, ready for a fresh start, a completely different person than I was thirty days ago. I’m very happy. I have a plan and methods of use to continue the work on myself into the future.Anonymous
I could not imagine I would have grown so much in a month and it was a very challenging and rewarding experience all in oneAnonymous
I struggled with addiction for years. Working with Jean-François is the only thing that has ever really worked! I use the skills he taught me every day and find them very effective for keeping me on track and moving forward in a positive and healthy way.Anonymous
Before I came to The Exclusive, my life was spiraling down like you wouldn’t believe. I was drinking close to one liter of scotch a day and my wife and kids were ready to leave me. I was feeling worthless and depressed. At The Exclusive I learnt that alcohol wasn’t my real problem, my real problem was things inside me, some beliefs inside me that were hurting me bad enough to where I felt that I had to go and escape through the bottle of alcohol and once I started uncovering those truths, it was pretty amazing the way I started feeling and realizing that, that’s true. Although I know I would never drink alcohol again, I now have the tools that I was taught here at the center, how to really deal with life in a more positive way, where I no longer beat myself up and I’m a lot happier."Anonymous

Calls to any general helpline (non-facility specific 1-8XX numbers) for your visit will be answered by American Addiction Centers (AAC).
We are standing by 24/7 to discuss your treatment options. Our representatives work solely for AAC and will discuss whether an AAC facility may be an option for you.
Our helpline is offered at no cost to you and with no obligation to enter into treatment. Neither Recovery.org nor AAC receives any commission or other fee that is dependent upon which treatment provider a visitor may ultimately choose.
