Dr. Mark Keep has been in healthcare for 36 years. He was an advanced life support medic in central California for 5 years in the early 1980’s prior to attending medical school at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. He completed Internal Medicine Residency and Heart Failure/Cardiac Transplant Fellowship at he University of Utah followed by Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Arizona. He worked as a general and interventional cardiologist in Utah for 18 years. In 2008 his 7-year-old daughter Alissa died in a motor vehicle accident. Dr. Keep had to overcome grief induced medical issues as well as alcohol use while struggling to recover from the pain of his daughter’s death. Volunteer work as well as research, writing, and speaking on the medical ramifications of grief and loss, including adverse coping mechanisms such as substance abuse, were part of his recovery. He has spoken locally, nationally and soon internationally on the subject. It also led to working with alcoholics and addicts and becoming an Addiction Medicine specialist. He is board certified in Cardiology, a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and board eligible in Addiction Medicine. Sharing his experience, strength, and hope as well as training, medical knowledge, and research are part of his desire to “pay it forward” and help others to also recover from grief, loss, trauma and addiction.

- Underlying Issues
Steps Recovery Center believes in treating not only the addiction but the underlying root cause issues. We take a very unique and individualized approach while treating each of our clients. Our mission is to help our clients identify and overcome the root causes of their addiction, whether it is mental health, trauma, PTSD or stress.
- Complete Care
Steps Recovery Centers believes in the effectiveness of offering a full continuum of care. We offer Detox, Residential Treatment, Day Treatment, Intensive Outpatient, General Outpatient and Aftercare services.Statistically, a person's chances of long term sobriety increases when they build a foundation of recovery through a gradual step down and intensity of care. For some clients, because of their home, family and work obligations, residential treatment is all they can take time away from their lives for. We have an intensive residential program in Draper called Annie’s House that can be tailored for professionals so they can return to their home lives with all of the tools needed for a lasting and full recovery.
Steps Recovery is the place you go if want a caring and understanding program. They have helped me gain knowledge about myself and what I want/need to do. The staff there can relate and help you through core issues and they push you to do better because being in this program you know you can do big and amazing things. Also the therapists there are awesome and walk with you through struggles of life and give you the tools you truly need. Overall this place is an amazing opportunity and you’d be missing out on a lot if you chose to not at least try this program.Nathan F.

This program was the most amazing and beautiful experience. I witnessed some of the most breathtaking transformations but the one I"ll treasure most was the one within myself. Nothing i could have ever dreamed of would measure or amount to the blessings I received to the utter bliss I found while reconnecting with my inner most self and resurrecting my relationship with my higher power while learning to love myself along the way. Thank you from the very bottom of my whole newly complete heart!!!Sara H.
