Treatment Insights

Like all of our treatment centers, Sovereign Health of Texas combines traditional treatment with holistic therapies, such as yoga and equine therapy. Licensed by the State of Texas, we offer residential and intensive outpatient treatment services as well as detoxification for men and women who are dealing with addiction and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. Nestled along Franklin Mountains State Park, patients will receive individual, couples and family therapy, as well as personalized treatment plans for the best approach possible. In addition, Sovereign Health of Texas offers treatment for both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking patients. Previous studies have suggested that the nation’s Spanish-speaking population is often unable to access mental health care services in the U.S. due to language barriers.

Areas of Focus
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a highly specific, research-validated form of therapy that can help people overcome traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. With EMDR, a trained practitioner uses bilateral stimulation, eye movement and touch to stimulate parts of the brain as a patient recounts certain experiences and memories as a way to more thoroughly process uncomfortable, painful feelings.

Equine Therapy

A form of animal therapy, equine therapy involves visiting, working with and sometimes riding horses as a way to create a metaphoric relationship that leads to life-altering insights.

Aftercare Support

Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.

Creative Arts Therapy

Writing, making art or engaging in theater can be deeply therapeutic for people working to recover from addiction. Many facilities offer one or several forms of creative arts therapy as a way to help patients learn to express their feelings in productive ways.

Alumni Testimonials
  • I’d say it definitely met my expectations, just because the staff is friendly, and it’s the same thing with the clients. They’re here for you, they’ll back you up. And the groups are very helpful.

  • My experience with the staff and therapists was beautiful – I can’t complain about anything. Because as I asked questions, staff and therapists were always willing to give me the answers I needed…I’ll put it in better words: I’ll just say they went beyond what I ever would have imagined staff and therapists would do..
