I've stayed in the "His House" sober living for three months, but have never stayed in the rehab. Both facilities are owned by the same company, and the person that runs the sober living also works at the rehab.
I am making this post to warn anyone thinking about entering either one of these programs that His House, and other related facilities, are
shining examples of recovery for profit. These facilities could care less about your recovery, and I would go so far as to say that they look forward to, and promote, people leaving their programs early because they keep the money they are given for the month. Never have I dealt with such an unprofessional, unclean, dignity affronting, and overall terrible program such as this.
Some examples of what I am talking about: Being yelled at and scolded like I am a child, being told I must scrub asphalt for pouring coffee on it, being told I should be grateful for a roof over my head when complaining about mold in the walls and ceiling ( I have pictures of the mold, which is very harmful to breath ). One week I washed all my sheets, which does cost money, later that week, one day, the house manger tells me that his dog got feces all stuck in her hair and he had to clean it. I later went upstairs and he had the dog on my bed and was sitting on it playing with the dog. Another time I was in the shower room, naked, when the house manger barged in, I tried to shut the door and tell him that I am naked, and he commanded me to open the door. He said "I've seen a naked body before."
These people treat you like dirt, and the environment is not conducive of recovery. If you are willing to pay to have your recovery jeopardized and your dignity affronted, His House facilities are right for you.
