Three Ways to Beat Marijuana Addiction

It’s true that some people don’t take a marijuana addiction seriously. Marijuana is the happy drug, the drug that doesn’t kill, how harmless could it be, right? Well, I guess the answer lies in the differences between individual perception and opportunity… just like any other drug. Some people do it and never become addicted or have problems with use, others do it and their lives take a plunge.

So, the first thing you should do if you’re trying to quit marijuana and get your life back is accept that you have a problem with the way that you’re living and commit to changing it. Remember, the only thing that constitutes a change is the fact that you’re not comfortable living the way you are. There are no magic rules that say you must hit rock bottom, your life must be shambles and you must have lost it all to warrant getting better.

Where ever you are in your journey, is enough to warrant change. Remember that. And start right here on your journey to health and well-being.

Step by Step

Addiction recovery is all about taking small, actionable steps forward. It doesn’t have to be this monumental thing. Think about why you want to change and make a commitment to yourself. Start taking steps to get there. Do you need support, medical attention, the advice of a professional, therapy, treatment? Find out what your first step is and take it.

Education

Get educated on addiction. The single biggest barrier to recovery for many people is education on the topic of addiction. It’s a topic that everyone has an opinion about but not many take the time to truly learn about. The more you know, the better of you’ll be.

Give Back

Never underestimate the power of giving back. Give your time in group meetings, lend a hand to a friend in need. Find out what you can do to become a sponsor and help others on their journey. This one may not come until further into your journey, but many people find that this part of recovery is what keeps them going and gives them a sense of purpose. You never know how your experiences will prepare you to help others.
