Plenty of food and candy, able to talk on phone, counselors help with setup for getting out, small facility Counselors don't spend any time with family and not even a daily visit with patient, patients rarely get to go outside, no literature available to read They'll only let you stay 60 days if you have medicaid, 90 days are reserved for prison exits... seems dumb since most withdrawals take 60 days and they have no detox program.
numerous recovery tools. group meetings are awesome. we are all there for the same purpose. to learn how to prevent relapse.
When I came to Serenity Point I was very resistant to the program. Talking with my counselor and case manager they opened me up and let me see the destruction I really made. My biggest problem was dealing with the anxiety of dealing with these issues, my counselor also showed me what was out of my control to help relieve that stress. Crooked thinking in PHP is one of the best classes I've had to identify and help retain those bad thoughts was very important. Also detox staff are the best, I went through a lot of pain from Methadone on a 100mg a day my skin was crawling. The staff made me as comfortable as possible, I'm very grateful I stuck it out because it would have not been possible with out this program. Thanks SPR!
