Treatment Insights

Cold Creek Behavioral Health is a nationally accredited, non 12-step drug and alcohol addiction treatment program. We offer a full range of the most successful evidence-based therapies. Cold Creek’s treatment programs are based on the Bio-Psycho-Social and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment models that are recognized by Columbia University and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. These models view addiction as a disease while taking into consideration that there are Biological, Psychological, and Sociological factors to consider when treating addiction. We offer dual diagnosis treatment, which means we treat addiction and mental health issues at the same time and in the same setting. All of our limited enrollment programs offer individual treatment where only 8-10 clients are treated at a time. This ensures clients receive the individual counseling, and personal attention in a beautiful setting that balances healing and recovery.

Areas of Focus
Family Program

Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.

Eating Disorder Treatment

Many mental health professionals view eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, along with other dysfunctional eating patterns) as a food addiction – in that food is used in ways other than as fuel or a source of pleasure. Some, but not all, addiction treatment programs include eating disorder treatment as part of the service menu. Also, an eating disorder may be a dual-diagnosis or a co-occurring disorder with drug or alcohol addiction.

Equine Therapy

A form of animal therapy, equine therapy involves visiting, working with and sometimes riding horses as a way to create a metaphoric relationship that leads to life-altering insights.

Aftercare Support

Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.

Alumni Testimonials
  • I cant express how grateful I am to have gone through the Cold Creek program. The caring clinical staff helped me not only to understand my addiction but more importantly what was driving my addiction. The knowledge and tools I gained while in treatment, I still use on a daily basis to become a better person and to keep my recovery strong. I'm proud to say that not only was I a client but I am now part of this amazing team of people who want to help others overcome their addictions.

  • I was a client of Cold Creek for about 10 months. I had the privilege to be treated in both there Kaysville, Brighton, and sober living locations. Cold Creek staff were able to guide me with knowledge and experience teaching me how to live not only a life with out addiction, but to a happy healthy lifestyle. I see the world completely different now and the staff there has become a second family that I can always rely on.

  • I love everything about Cold Creek. The clinicians and support staff really care and they know what they are talking about because some of them lived through addiction themselves. They helped me through some of the darkest times I've had in my life. I was a struggling addict before I came here and now I'm recovering happily in their sober living facility. I am so grateful to everyone at Cold Creek! I can't say thank you enough!

  • Between the exceptional staff and their invaluable experiences, the "at-home" vibe of their first class facilities, the dedication to teaching their clients how to build a foundation in Recovery, Cold Creek not only gave me help when I needed it most, they gave me the support and boundaries I needed to succeed in creating a fulfilling life for myself. I am proud to be Cold Creek Alumni. My clean date is July 23rd, 2014. I've been celebrating every day since.

  • This place is amazing, worth every single penny. I learned to love myself here. I learned I had value and worth, just being me. They gave me the tools and beginning skills to put myself and my family back together again.

  • Cold creek was my 7th inpatient treatment center. I came in broken and hopeless. I told my mom I would just give it a shot and not to get her hopes up. After the first 2 weeks I started to have the change necessary to begin my recovery. I had a great counselor Newel. Together we were able to work through a lot and break the ice for a lot more recovery down the road. I actually completed the 45 day program!! But then there was the real test. Unfortunately as i kept in contact with my rehab brothers I saw some fall. But for me it worked wonders. On November 13th of this year 2015 I celebrate my first year ever without a drug including alcohol since I was 14 years old. I was an IV meth and heroin user. If I can do it anyone can. Love Scott

    Amanda Quist - Clinical Supervisor

I graduated from Westminster College and have been working in the substance use field ever since. I believe strongly that both substance use and mental health problems need to be treated at the same time and I am continually learning and finding new techniques and research to better assist the recovery and health of my clients. Throughout my various positions I have worked with people all along the spectrum ranging from people court ordered to treatment, to those diagnosed with schizophrenia and major mood disorders, to those who are motivated and ready for recovery. I love working in the substance use field specifically because it is challenging, motivating, and never boring. I enjoy working with the clients as well as their families and loved ones and I believe that building a strong support network is essential in recovery.
