Acqua Recovery Reviews and Ratings Details
The following is based on a combination of Surveys of Alumni, Staff, Loved Ones, and Reviews and Ratings from around the web.
Reviews at a Glance
- Individualized Evidence-based Treatment
We believe an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) is essential. It affords the patient the best possible care based on their personal needs, An ITP takes into consideration personal goals, life situation, age, lifestyle, family circumstances, medical conditions, type of drug, belief systems, background, education, trauma, etc.
- Holistic Therapy
Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a highly specific, research-validated form of therapy that can help people overcome traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. With EMDR, a trained practitioner uses bilateral stimulation, eye movement and touch to stimulate parts of the brain as a patient recounts certain experiences and memories as a way to more thoroughly process uncomfortable, painful feelings.

Dr. Terry Sellers - M.D. Addictionologist
Dr. Terry L. Sellers believes he is a lucky man. He spends his days surrounded by people he loves, working in a profession which creates passion and energy for him. Through his experience, education, and life lessons he is now able to work in the addiction field as a board certified addiction medicine physician. To Dr. Sellers, this means he is able to give back to others the hope and freedom that was given to him over ten years ago when he was struggling with his own opiate addiction. Dr. Sellers grew up in Clearwater, Florida. He received his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed an OB/GYN residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Sellers practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in Provo, UT for 12 years, delivering over 6,000 babies. Years of migraine headaches sparked his addiction to pain medications. He spent many years suffering with a desire to stop using opiates and the inability to do so. He ultimately decided to get help using substance abuse treatment and gave up his lifestyle of being a solo obstetrician. He now has 10 years of recovery from drug addiction and is rigorously active in the recovery community. Living a recovery lifestyle for the past decade has created a new perspective on life and what is important to him.
Randy Thompson - Clinical Director, LCSW
Randy has been in the counseling profession for the last 18 years. He graduated from Florida State University in 1999 with a Masters in Social Work and moved to Utah with a young family in 2000. He worked for over a decade in a crisis position, where he was quickly promoted to managing over 25 crisis workers in the busiest ED in the state. While working as a crisis worker he helped numerous people and found satisfaction in helping others locate resources to improve their lives. With his desire to help others heal, he expanded his focus to help individuals and their families in a long term residential facility. This is where he developed an understanding of essential keys to healing and maintaining change. Randy brings a skill set based on the understanding of how to facilitate unity. He loves to therapeutically connect with others in order to help them find light, healing, and to see and obtain their true potential. His approach to therapy is helping people improve the relationship with themselves and others in order to help them implement change and experience growth.
