The $300,000,000 you reference is actually the total amount of money provided to the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration by the Recovery Act. The sole source modification to an already existing contract held by B L Seamon Corporation that you mention above was only $1.1 million according the the Recovery.gov website. The company was already performing on the contract and that is why it was a sole source modification. The modification added money to an existing contract. Reply

The president, Bradford Seamon, was a proud contributor to the Obama campaign in 2008. He contributed $6000. That ought to answer all questions about why his company received the sole contract. Remember to always follow the money. Reply

More fraud, waste, and abuse. Brad Seamon was able to receive this sole source contract for $ 300,000,000.00 via his small business. Also, who is Michelle McDermott, a contract specialist at HHS who arranged this sole source contract. The language of this HHS document shrouds the contract in mystery, but the company's web site indicates that they organize communities, arrange events, and make travel arrangements. Why does Ms. McDermott think no other company in the U.S. can compete for this? Reply

The way I read it, it is to encourage doctors to a) remain primary care docs and b) work in areas that they would not normally. The reason it doesn't just pay the doctors more is that people would be very, very unhappy to find out the government is bribing doctors so instead they are helping students. If the end result of this is doctors help more people for less money, it may be worth the large price tag. Reply

If I read this correctly, the purpose of this $300 Million is to give money to doctors to pay off their student loans. How does this create jobs? Are there a lot of unemployed doctors right now? I find that hard to believe. Reply

Anything hidden in that much technical language can not possibly be good. Reply

Reply to Benjamin : That much technical language doesn't scare me or most people. The evaluation for it is sound. Prove otherwise if you differ. Reply

Reply to Eric : if you are so smart why dont you read all of the bullcrap technical language for all of 50,000+ pork barrel projects across the country and boil each one down to 1 page and then post them in the same time frame that the jerkoffs in congress try to jam this govt takeover of health care at the end of the year. Reply to Eric : Reply to Eric: That isn't technical language you were reading, it's HHS obfuscating the contract award to protect their bad decision to award $ 300 million in a no-bid contract for work that many government contractors are well qualified to do and who could have quicly responded to if allowed to compete. Anyone who is knowledgeable re government contracts would recognize this, and many would protest the award if they knew about it. I will see to it that they now find out. Reply
