Seems like an awful lot of the stimulus money is going to clean up mistakes the nuke folks made in the past. Reply

I hate to say this but I'm glad this will be cleaned up. Go downstream of this site and check out the statistic for cancer of all types in all age categories, especially the children, and you will be glad that this place would go away. We all know at least several children who have been stricken with AML, CML, or any other types of leukemias. I'm glad I moved away. Reply

If you had been to this area, and I can see by your comments that you have not, you would know that this site has long been in need of a clean-up. The locals can tell all kinds of stories of radiation induced deformities in local wildlife for 30+ years, etc.. It has been too expensive to clean up and much easier to cordon off and hold, hoping that a miracle would happen and the nuclear waste would vanish. The sad truth is that when you process nuclear waste bad things can happen. Reply

Not to be argumentative, but Im pretty sure "Big Wind" doesnt have quite the pull even in this administration as "Big Nuke" considering that GE has put way more money into nuclear power plants than wind turbines. Granted they are taking over the world turbine biz, but theyd be just as happy or happier to plop down a big ol power plant instead. Ok, one more thought- you dont have to clean up waste from a wind farm Reply

How about building a Nuclear Power Plant on site? Thats a joke. The current administration would not let that happen while have the Windmill, Solar Energy, Alternative Energy companies and General Electric promising Political Financial backing. Reply
