The entire recovery act is weak fiscal policy but it is projects like this that are the worst offenders. It is horribly expensive and, if MN-DoT history is any example, it will be slow, wasteful and likely poorly executed. If the plan is to debase the currency in an attempt to re-inflate the bubble so we can pretend for a few more years that our economy can afford massive new spending programs to renew the lease on congressional seats, is it too much to ask for it to be done efficiently? I realize the state needs to upgrade some of the infrastructure, but this is outrageous! When are you going to start pumping money into places that will stimulate small non-union controlled businesses that keep this country going? 145M!? Crazy! Reply

Reply to SmBizSprt : How do small projects keep this country going? Those are ripe for fraud and waste and benefit only a few select people. Spend money on roads! More people benefit from large road projects than some silly misc pet "small" project for a few lucky businesses. Great job congress. Finally something that makes sense! Reply

Reply to SmBizSprt : SmBizSprt - Obama has had 25+ SECRET meetings with SEIU and until the "guest list" was finally handed over? NO ONE WAS SUPPOSED TO KNOW!.... Health Care (Obama Crap Care) is being lurked around by UNIONS & the multiple meetings being chummy with Obama are FOR ONE THING! = to have Obama give them the "right" to force UNIONS into the entire Health Care System because they want to gain more DUES to keep their pensions GOING!....and Obama wants a socialist experiment!...a marriage made in hell ~ Reply

What a waste. just like the failure to remove the lights south of 494 (3 lighted intersections vs current bridges) in the initial project. Anyone with a driver's license could have seen they screwed up the first time. Someone at the MnDot should have lost their job over that project. If you can't do it right, don't do it. Reply

Reply to tg : I live out there so the shortest route for me to get home would have me getting off 494 at 169. I won't do it. I will drive through Eden Prairie on Flying Cloud because it is faster then dealing with the multiple stop lights surrounding a major intercahnge. It is a messed up intersection and the sad part is it was just redone within the last 10 years. Just my two cents. Reply

How many times do we need to re-do this intersection. This time I hope they get it right so it'll last more than a few years. Other parts of the metro have been waiting too many years for their first intersection improvements. This money would have been better used to complete I-610 all the way to 94 in the north metro. Projects need to get completed before intersections get re-done and re-done. We need planners that want to get things right the first time. Reply

This intersection is a nightmare right now. Its just a shame that when they redid it not too long ago, they were not able to do it right. Just shows the importance of the penny-wise, pound-foolish idiom when it comes to infrastructure. Reply
