Come on folks, you're making Michigan look bad. The total cost of the project is $98K. Do you suppose some of that goes to purchase materials? And to pay for people who already have jobs to work for a few days? This doesn't mean there's one person out there who's going to be paid $98K to do all of the work. And since when does one person, all by himself, re-pave a road anyway? A data dictionary on this site would be helpful. Reply

I am a bit suspect as to the origin and political agenda of this site. I just heard of it and it does have a wealth of information. But I wonder if the information is skewed to present a certain view. For example this project. I dont know anything specifically about the merits of this project but I imagine the 1 job for $98,000 means the ADDITION of one job. What about the layoffs that will be prevented? What about the spinoffs for the private sector from this govt spending? Reply

Reply to dlb : Having worked for the govt before it looks like they are just pulling this data directly from the govt bids. I don't think the site is spinning this one way or another (although why have us vote on these? Still confused on that one) so it is a govt equation that is estimating the job numbers and values. I don't know what method they are using, but I am sure that sometimes it's a mix of part-time jobs, contract value etc. Not a one-to-one this job equals this exact wage. Reply

Reply to dlb : This site reflects the public record and nothing else dorkus. Look at the job statistics - they use both the Congressional Budget Office and the White House formulas to calculate the jobs. There isn't any political agenda. Or grassy knoll. It's just data. And the most accurate data about recovery that I've been able to find on the internet after much searching. Reply

I can totally see how this will stimulate our ecomomy. I am full of hope for this new found change. Maybe the man or woman who is employed for this can spare some change. We could sure use it since my husband has lost his job Reply

This one job must be filled by one helluva man to do all that much construction work. Reply

Lynn Fears  May-29-2009 04:26:14 PM
This must be onehelluva project to create only one job. This job must be a government Czar to oversee the spending to insure there is sufficient waste to justify Federal government involvement. Reply
