Hmmmmmm 600 mil for just an interchange? I guess if you know the gov't is paying you can charge a much higher price. I've heard of contractors getting together pre-bid and agreeing not to compete in order to drive the price up. Will be interesting to see who wins the bid, who loses the bid, and who ends up getting the sub contracts!!!! Reply

$600 million for a road, isnt that WAY too much (unless its a road to heaven). There are homeless people on the streets, why not use some money to help them. and other people who are NOT in the road constuction business. Reply

Reply to smitth : Not even a road, just the INTERCHANGE between two highways! Way too much! Reply

Its great they are spending so much money in constucting new roads in Florida, putting some people back to work. But... what if you are not a construction worker? what if you are a software/electronics engineer like me, where is the simulus for people like me? we have to eat too! Reply

600 mil for Economic recovery for Florida. How does this exchange bring economic recovery? I just think this would encourage more people to drive more cars and depend less on a more efficient method of transportation. Can someone explain to me why instead of an exchange could we not get a better west to east method of moving a lot of people out of their cars and into a high speed rail system, Then maybe the other 70 million being spent on transportation would really help. Reply to C moran : a rail system not only gets people out of cars it also creats long term jobs for enginerrs controling the tranis and the singla upkeep and maintennce. this give 3000 jobs for aobut 2-3 years then what nothing oh yeah it also give more lazy bums working for the govmt an excuse to sleep on the job lmfao Reply

Aldo - This is one of those "Advance Notices" which means the plans aren't available yet. The project is in its early stages. It looks like this site posts all the documents, drawings, pdfs, etc. when they become avaiable if the other projects listed are any indication. Reply

Where are the plans ? I'm from Miami, and yes is true these projects are really necessary because we can't get on the road, traffic its insane. We want more details.. why don't they post a PDF copy of the application for stimulus funds for us to see..? Reply

I'd be curious to see what kind of interstate interchange you can get for $601 MILLION dollars. That's an insane amount of cash for an interchange. Reply

Reply to Josh : ARRA funding is $87.6M - seems like that ought to be enough for an interchange - but without a map that actually shows the thing, and some details about the project, how can one judge? Reply
